The lead character in author Kenneth Hoss’s action-packed suspense novel, Storm Rising, is a no nonsense protagonist who takes a back seat to no one.
Detective Kelli Storm fights her own battles, whether she is on a stake-out with a rookie partner or in the heat of a showdown with male counterparts trailing in her wake. She doesn’t do patience well, especially when her snitch is late with information about a high ranking drug member who is also a murder suspect.
When the bad guys make things personal for her, a fellow detective discourages her from responding. But Storm lives up to her name and turns the tables until she is back in control. Now, with emotions high, the action is kicked up another notch. The story unfolds in Mr. Hoss’s descriptive voice, moving between New York’s Bronx, Yonkers, and Brooklyn before following the trail of drug dealers south.
Kelli Storm’s complicated personal life is at odds with her career, where her performance suggests she has nothing to lose. How she maintains her equilibrium in both areas of her life is the essence of this story.
